In addition, familiarity with the steps in changing the inside socket lamp will help you save on cost so you no longer have to hire the services of a professional electrician. Do-it-yourself projects like this has been increasingly popular these days.
Before you start to change the inside socket lamp, make sure all of the tools you will need are ready and available. For this task, you will need a couple of Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, wire cutter, wire strippers and the new inside socket lamp to replace the defective one. Preparing all of the tools you need before starting the replacement process will help you save time. It will be distracting if you will end up looking for the necessary tools in the middle of changing your inside socket lamp.
Firstly, make sure you have already unplugged your lamp. Trying to replace a socket when it is still plugged in can cause unwanted accidents. After your lamp has already been unplugged, remove the screws from the base portion of your socket. Then, remove the socket from the lamp by turning the entire assembly in a counterclockwise direction. Make sure you are pulling the socket lamp assembly gently to avoid harming the cords.
Remove the topmost portion of the socket lamp housing away from the bottom piece. When you have pulled off this socket lamp housing, you will see a small socket unit inside. Cut off the wires located along the socket lamp terminals. You will also see plastic insulation near the socket lamp terminals. Approximately half an inch from the ends of this plastic insulation, the wires should be cut and stripped off.
Upon removing the socket lamp cover assembly, make sure you also untie the knots in the wires. When the wires are still tied, you may have difficulty in proceeding with the next steps in changing the inside socket lamp. Use the hole in the bottom part of your assembly base of your lamb to push the wire through. Then, secure the wire to the socket lamp by turning the assembly base clockwise. Afterwards, make sure the wire will not fall into the socket lamp body by creating loose knots. You can use the knots you untied as a guide in creating those loose knots.
Secure the new socket into place with screws and you are done!
